This role requires detailed knowledge of existing network cabling infrastructure design principles (CNIDP preferred). In addition, a working knowledge of containment design and installation design principles is essential.
The role requires a level of survey expertise to provide information build up:
Single line diagram drawings to be drawn up by Roc’s CAD Designer
Check route capacity, bend radius, future expansion etc
Produce a BOM (Bill of materials) Rack layouts, HLD, LLD documentation, patching schedules where required
Detailed scope of works, schematics and floor plans
Working day to day completing surveys of network cabling (copper and fibre) using existing infrastructure or new infrastructure
Work with existing facility managers to ensure that the full information is gathered to allow for the safe and secure installation of infrastructure, including liaising with the Asbestos Focal Group
Working Knowledge of CDM (construction design management) regulations required to ensure that all installations are planned in line with these requirements
Liaising with Roc’s approved suppliers to check current pricing is in line with commercial requirements
Work with Roc’s delivery manager and health and safety manager to ensure engineers are fully briefed and all paperwork is completed prior to works commencing
A knowledge of MOD infrastructure guidelines (JSP604) and the Engineering Change Request (ECR) procedure would be an advantage as well as having successfully completed the Atkins/ MOD CIDA Installation Design Practitioners Course
Call out all Risks and Assumptions required for each scope of work
Ensure Roc’s risk profile is reduced re: CDM regulations while maintaining autonomous network
Ensuring quotes and surveys are commercially viable
To ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions and services and ensure that the highest level of client satisfaction is achieved
Visual survey of containment and communications availability
Assessing requirements and checking capability
Act as an escalation point for issues found during delivery
Regular and effective communication within the delivery team
Day to day contact with the facilities and work area managers
Manage work in line with the customer expectations
Assist in maintaining customer engagement
Working in customer facing environment
Strong communications skills including coaching, presenting, technical and business writing
Willingness for continuous improvement
SC & DV clearance will be required
Working knowledge of CDM regulations
CNIDP an advantage
CNCI or equivalent
BTEC Level 3 in Telecommunications
